Dear Nervia,

I have just read your letter bearing date of 7th inst which Sant backed for you, So I judge he is able to be about yet. I had thought the last letter I rote him perhaps had poisoned him to death.I was truly glad to hear form you again and this one come quicker than any letter has come to me in a long time. I do think with you that some of the neighbors might afford to and take time and get your wood when you pay them for it. Tell me who is inhumane as to take your money and then not get the wood.

We have not been paid yet, the paymaster come to to pay us but the fight scared him away before we got paid, so I don't know when we will see him again. I am glad to hear that things are quiet down there again and there surely will be a change some way in this war. If Sarah and Ed has a girl, that is extraordinary. I hope to get to come home yet and see my family and friends.

You will do well if you fatten three hogs and winter old white on your 15 bushels of corn. It will take 40 bushels to fatten the hogs. I could not make out what you paid per bushel but thought 30.thirty cts.

When I look back and see how I have been favored by providence during this war, my heart melts in thankfulness to God. O, how I love His name, His law and His statutes. His ways are past finding out and His love is boundless and I earnestly pray that through His divine grace I may still be preserved until I again may be permitted to see my family. Pray for me and now may God bless and sustain you in and finally save you in Heaven is my prayer.

Frank, to my family
