PRINCETON - Douglas Lee Brunk, 60, of RR 03, Southern Hollow Road, just off the Pisgah Road, Princeton, died Thursday evening, July 22, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness.

Born Sept. 24, 1943 at Springton, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Dorothy Davis Brunk. Mr. Brunk graduated from Athens High School and was a lifelong resident of Mercer County.

He was a timberman and heavy equipment operator for many years. Mr. Brunk was a member of Local 132 A Beckley, for Operating Engineers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Brunk.

Survivors are his wife, Viney Edwards Brunk; children, David Brunk and Betty Hazelwood, both of Princeton, Gloria Egolf of Johnson City, Tenn., and Michael W. Brunk of Lexington, N.C., and the mother of his children, Patty Holdren of North Carolina; brothers and sisters, Russell W. Brunk of Dameron, Md., Charles H. Brunk and wife, Delicie of Anacoca, La., Larry W. Brunk and wife, Lena of Athens, Deloras M. Brunk of Chesterfield, Va., Evelyn Fortner of Roanoke, Va., Joyce A. Edelen of Millsboro, Del., and Kathleen Goad and husband, Gary of Wirtz, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road. Interment will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens.
