Rule Rites Held Sun., June 14 For Jess Whittington

Funeral services for Jess Whittington, 72, former Lakeview High School principal for several years, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, in the Rule First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Malone officiating.

Burial was in the Rule Cemetery with White Funeral Home of Tahoka in direction.

Mr. Whittington resided on a route near Buchanan Dam.

He was born Sept. 6, 1897, in Collinsville and had been living near Buchanan Dam in Llano County for the past four years.

Jess E. Whittington was united in marriage to Belva Curry July 27, 1942, at Amarillo. He attended West Texas State University and the University of Texas and was a retired teacher. A veteran of World War II, he passed away Saturday morning, June 13, in the Veterans Hospital in Big Spring. He had been in failing health for some time.

Survivors include: his wife and one brother, Bob, of Pecos.

Pall bearers were Dick Fowler, James Skinner, Carroll Fowler, Quilla Clark, J.O. Adams and J.W. Hatley, Jr.
