Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving on the USS Cabildo. He was employed as a grinder operator for Ford Motor Company in Sharonville for 38 years, retiring in 1997. Howard was a member of UAW Local #801. He was an avid fisherman who was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. On December 13, 1968 in Erin, TN he married Barbara Spiers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Pennington; his children, Michael T. (Teresa) Pennington, Diane (Charles) Campbell, Carl L. (Brenda) Pennington, and Karen (Bob) Byrd; nine grandchildren, Talina Leitch, Aaron (Nina) Center, Matt Pennington, Jeremy Pennington, Kayla (Dwayne) Byrge, Kendra Byrd, Karly Pennington, Kylie Byrd, and Sammy Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin, Jonathan, and Brianna; a brother, Ernest (Lorene) Pennington; a sister, Wilma (Tilford) Proffitt; a sister-in-law, Marietta Pennington; his loving pet, Sunny; and a host of neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Pennington.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home on February 26, 2009 with Pastor Rick Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
