Oscar Ashley, 93, The Residence of McCormick's Creek, formerly of Paragon, died at 6:15 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2005 at Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, IN.
The son of the late Otus "Otto" Ashley and Cecil (McCarty) Ashley. He was born September 21, 1911 in Shelby Co., IN. He married Florence (Terman) Ashley and she survives in Spencer, IN.
He was a US Army WWII veteran from Mar. 31, 1944 thru Apr. 21, 1946. Ashley was owner and operator of several businesses through the years, a restaurant in Morgantown, IN, a grocery store in Paragon, IN and a laundromat in Indianapolis, IN. He retired from Indiana University, where he was custodian. He was formerly active in the Paragon Conservation Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Paragon Christian Church, Paragon, IN.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Neumeyer and son-in-law Charles of Spencer, IN, two grandsons, Jeff Neumeyer of Fort Wayne, IN and Ron Neumeyer of Simi Valley, CA, three great grandchildren, Adam, Aaron & Ashlynn Neumeyer all of Fort Wayne, IN; three sisters, Reba Peck, Joan Patterson and Patty Brown.
He was preceded in death by three sister; Fern Cole, Delores Marshall and Irene Coffman.
The service will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Neal & Summers Mortuary, Martinsville, IN. Rev. Tom Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville,IN
