Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22, 1989 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Dean H. Jeffers

Dean H. Jeffers, the son of Marton and Mary (Hill) Jeffers, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 18, 1920, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska on June 20, 1989, at the age of 68 years, 7 months, and 2 days.

Dean had worked as a laborer to support his mother. On February 4, 1941 he joined the U.S. Army, and spent most of his service time in the South Pacific. He was later shipped back to the States for parachute training. He was discharged on July 10, 1945.

In 1944 Dean was united in marriage to Nelle Applebee at Salina, Kansas, and they moved back to Aurora in 1945. He went to work for the telephone company and was foreman from 1946 to 1951, later moving to Oregon where he worked on his own. Dean had also lived in Kentucky where he worked for a government roofing contractor.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Vera Jaques and Doris Blackburn; and two brothers, Charles and Estelle Jeffers.

He is survived by 2 sons, Fred of Hamilton, Ohio and Tom of Lexington, Kentucky; 5 sisters, Bernice Spahr of Loveland, Colorado, Naomi Jensen, Gladys Kirk, Marie Smith and Freeda Snoberger all of Aurora, 4 grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
