Emma Josephine Wright was born on April 4, 1868 in Dry Fork, Carroll County, Arkansas to Joseph Samuel and Frances Ann (Allred) Wright. She is one of thirteen children. Emma's parents are both buried in Hardrock Cemetery.

Emma Josephine married Robert Marion Anderson on April 27, 1887 in Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas. They were married for 17 years. From 1888 to 1903, they had eight children, Joseph Claude Anderson, Rhine Wright Anderson, Harry Martin Anderson, Dora May Anderson Chapman, and Jessie Aleta Anderson Hahn, Twin Boy and Girl Anderson infants, born in 1899, and another Infant Anderson, born in 1903, all died in infancy (names and where buried are unknown).

Emma Josephine (Wright) Anderson, 36, died on January 4, 1905, in Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas. Family records show that she is buried in Hardrock Cemetery but there are no official records of her burial in this cemetery.
