Elfie was the daughter of Charles Joseph and Melinda (Fadden) DeLoye.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Elfie Stoddard, who died at Faulk County Hospital last Saturday, following a lingering illness. Rev. Elon T. Keeler, pastor of the Faulkton Methodist church officiated. Interment was in the Faulkton cemetery.

Mrs. Stoddard was born Elfie Nellie DeLoy, at Keekoskee, Wis., June 16, 1868, and died March 15, 1947, at the age of 78 years and 9 months. At an early age she came to South Dakota with her parents, who homesteaded near Cresbard.

She was married to George H. Stoddard Nov. 26, 1885. Mr. and Mrs. Stoddard had nine children: George, Charles, Mary, Ruth, Florence, Dewey, Grayce [sic], Helen and Robert. They resided on a farm until Jan. 1899, when they moved to Faulkton where Mr. Stoddard engaged in business. She has lived here ever since.

She was a member of the Myron Congregational church and later transferred her membership to the Faulkton Congregational church. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, the W.C.T.U., the W.R.C., and Foncannon Unit No. 102, American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Dewey and Robert. She is survived by two sons, George of Boulder, Colorado, and Charles of Sioux Falls; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Babcock, Bristol; Mrs. Ruth Bentson of San Diego, Cal.; Mrs. Glen Shaffer of Neosho, Mo.; Mrs. C. L. Sievers, Faulkton; and Mrs. Allrue Barkey of Peoria, Ill. She has two brothers living: Adelbert of Mellette and Leland of St. Paul; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Voight of Loyal, Wis. There are twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

At the services Wednesday a quartet which included Mrs. L. A. Seaman, Mrs. Eric Nystrom, Roy Ford and Ray Wahlen sang, with Mrs. E. T. Keeler at the piano. Songs chosen were "Crossing the Bar," " Going Home" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Pall bearers were Victor, Clarence and Robert Babcock, Hanford Stoddard, Larry Sievers and Marvin Speck.
