Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home for Sarah Elizabeth Swanson, 93, Topeka, who died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at a Topeka care center.

She was born June 6, 1907, in Topeka, to James and Mary Braun Baker, and she graduated from Strickler's Business College.

She was a member of University Hills Christian Church in Denver and a former member of First Christian Church in McAllen, Texas, and Oakland Christian Church in Topeka.

She married Vernon L. Swanson on Feb. 3, 1944, in Topeka. They owned and operated Colorado Pump Service Inc. in Denver for 25 years before they retired in 1976. They moved to Topeka in 1985. He died Sept. 28, 1998.

Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth Baker, Tecumseh, and Donald Baker, Mesa, Ariz.; and three sisters, Gladys Thompson, Margaret Keeshan and Dorothy Northup, all in Topeka.

Private burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Swanson will lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th, 66614; McCrite Plaza Activity Fund, 1610 S.W. 37th, 66611; or West Side Christian Church, 432 S.W. Lindenwood, 66606.
