Funeral services for Anna Schaefer, 83, Hoven was held at 10 a.m., May 4 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hoven with the Rev. Leonard Nemmers officiating. Burial was in the St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Schaefer died Friday, May 1 at the Americana Healthcare Center in Aberdeen.

Lector for the service was William Klein and mass servers were Nick Kaiser, Henry Seurer, Steve DeRouchey, Daniel Klein and Alan Schaefer. Music was provided by the church choir.

A scriptural wake service was held Sunday at the church in Hoven.

Casketbearers were Paul Dutt, John Dutt, Jeff Klein, Donald Schaefer, Daniel Schaefer and Thomas Taylor.

Anna Schaefer was born Sept. 22, 1897, in rural Hoven. She married Matt Schaefer Jan. 3, 1923, at Hoven. They farmed north of Hoven until their retirement in 1975, when they moved into Hoven. She was a member of the church's Altar Society.

Survivors include here husband, two sons, Anthony and Leo, both of Hoven; four daughters, Mrs. Albert (Thelma) Dutt, Aberdeen; Mrs. Robert (Irene) Taylor, Omaha, Neb.; Sister Alice Schaefer, Mont Angel, Ore.; Mrs. William (Mary) Klein, Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, John Kaiser, Hoven; and Michael Kaiser, Eagle Pint, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Rausch, Yankton; and Mrs. Barbara Schaefer, Ipswich; 30 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by here parents, one son, four brothers, for sisters and one granddaughter.

The Miller Funeral Home of Bowdle was in charge of arrangements.
