COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE (Iowa) - Friday, June 18th, 1926 - Hon. "Mike" McDonald, 81, brother of Edward McDonald, formerly of Bayard, but of late years of New Orleans, Louisiana, died last week in his southern home. He was one of the earliest settlers of the county, and for many years was a prominent man in his county and state. He was first elected sheriff of Guthrie county, then county representative, for three terms, and Commander of the G.A.R. He was a good public speaker and popular at occasions where witty talks were in demanded. He is kindly remembered by hundreds of friends in his county and in this community. He was buried at
New Orleans, the native home of his second wife whom he married several years ago. He was the father of Charles P., Ed. S., William, and Mrs. Ed. Horton, all of the vicinity of Bayard.
