Jess Emanuel Hufford, 84, formerly of 1244 Pennsylvania, Kansas City, Kansas, died yesterday at the Wyandotte County home, where he had lived four years. He had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, 42 years. Mr. Hufford leaves five sons. Lewis Hufford, 706 Cheyenne, Stanley Hufford, 839 Minnesota, and Raymond Hufford, 1256 Lowell; all of Kansas City, Kansas, and Edward Hufford, 5610 Osage, and Ernest Hufford, 3026 North Sixty-seventh, both of Wyandotte County, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-randchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 o'clock Thursday at the Simmons chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery.

On August 12, 1900, Jess married Verna Florence Johnson (1881-1945). Verna already had one child when they married; Jess was not the father of that child. Jess and Verna had nine children. The marriage ended in divorce.
He was preceeded in death by sons Lloyd, Earl, and Clyde, and by daughter Edith.
Jess and his wife had divorced more than 20 years before he died. His wife had remarried, and she had died 14 years before Jesse died. However, Jess's remains were interred in the grave beside his former wife's grave.
