He was born April 1, 1915, the youngest son of Iver and Sophie (Lee) Olson. He spent his entire life in Barrett and was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. After graduating from Barrett High School in 1933, he was employed at the Elbow Lake and Barrett Creameries until he entered ...

On Sept. 7, 1941, he married Alice "Allie" Albertson of Foxhome at the Vuku Lutheran Church. They enjoyed 64 years of married life. After returning from the war he purchased Larson's General Store in 1946. He operated and owned Olson's General Store until he suffered a heart attack in 1987. He then continued to work part time at the store after selling it to his nephew Carroll. He was an active member of the American Legion, Barrett Commercial Club, Fire Department, Lutheran Church Council, Barrett Rifle Club, Peace Lutheran Church, and many other community organizations. He was the city treasurer for 38 years. His love for the community has been exhibited throughout his entire life. He was awarded the WCCO Good Neighbor Award in 1976. All kids growing up in Barrett stopped by Olson's grocery and said hi to Inky. His love and support of sports continued throughout his life. Hobbies included fishing, bowling, rifle association, watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, and helping out wherever needed in the community.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Larry, Rapid City, S.D., and Danny, Littleton, Colo., daughters, ReNae (Ron) Nelson, Alexandria, and Kayla (Howard) Johnson, Brooten; grandchildren, Meghan, Bradley, Brady, and Cary Olson, Jason and Nichole' Alstead, and Nathan Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Tucker Alstead and Cameron and Aidan Olson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Olson, Selma Skaga, Emma Stamness, and Hilma Berglund; brothers, Oliver and Henry; and son Keith Wayne.

Service: Monday, Dec. 12, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett
