Mrs. Iva Waterbury, a former resident here, passed away Thursday, June 13 1946, at her home in Marine City, Calif., after about a year's illness, at the age of 38 years. Mrs. Waterbury is survived by one daughter and one son, Mrs. Jean Sheppard and Donnie Waterbury, of Marine City; also, by her father Wm. Welch, of Elk Point, S.D. Her mother preceded her in death just six years ago. The body was brought to Elk Point, and funeral services and burial will be at the Pleasant Hill U.B. Church, west of Akron, on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.

DEATH COMES TO MRS. IVA WATERBURY

Last Rites Held For Former Union County Woman Friday

Iva Bell Waterbury, daughter of William and Elsie Welch, was born in Union County, S.D., on October 29, 1908, and departed this life at a hospital in San Francisco, Calif., June 13, 1946, after a long illness. She was 37 years, 7 months and 15 days of age.

Her childhood was spent in Union County, where early in life she united with the Pleasant Hill class of the United Brethren in Christ. Here, also, in young womanhood she gave her heart to Sylvan Waterbury and they were united in marriage November 16, 1923, at Sioux City, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Donald and Jean.

Three and a half years ago the family moved to Marin City, Calif., to assist in the war effort, and it was there that Mrs. Waterbury fell ill.

Her mother preceded her in death just six years ago. She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Donald, now with the Merchant Marine; her daughter, Mrs. Clifford Sheppard, of Marin City, Calif.; her father, William Welch, of Elk Point, S.D.; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Gardner; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral and burial services were held Friday afternoon, June 21, at the Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church and cemetery, the pastor, Rev. J.K. Tracy, officiating. Songs sung by Mrs. Fred Hansen and daughter, Fern, were, "The Lights of Home," "Old Rugged Cross" and "Only Glory By and By."

Pallbearers were Dean Gustafson, Herbert Swanson, Orville Welch, Donald L. Waterbury, Harley Goodroad and Frank Noggle.
