Mrs. Nancy (Smith) Ahrweiler, 73, lifetime Wapello County resident, died at her home in Blakesburg, Iowa on Sunday 6 1938 at 1:45 a.m.
She is the daughter of Fletch and Cynthia Vandere Cross, born Wapello County, Iowa 18 July 1865. She was a member of the Christin Church of Blakesburg.
Surviving are her husband August and two daughters, Mrs. Grace Ellen Kelley of Blakesburg, and Mrs. Amanda Gertrude Leondard of Drakesville, Iowa. Four sons Clyde M. Smith of Unionville, Alex E. "Peck" Smith 7 Frank B. Smith of Ottumwa, Iowa; Harry H. "Hite" Smith of Blakesburg. Also with 17 grandchildren and eight Great-grandchildren, Jack Cross of Unionville, Iowa.
Services will be held Tuesday, 8 November 1983 at 10:30 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa. Conducting the service is by the Rev. Roy C. Leeds of the Davis Street Christian Church in Ottumwa. burial will be in the Hope Well Cemetery, southwest of Ottumwa and near Blakesburg, Iowa. Nancy was baptized at Hope Well Baptist Church.
Nancy was dismissed from Hope Well Church 16 October 1904. Her 1st husband John "Jack" Smith preceded her in death in 1918; he is also buried at Hope Well side by side with her.
