John Calvin Adams, age 46 years, died suddenly at his home at Sikes, January 13, 1929, following a stroke of paralysis.

He was struck while shaving and fell on the floor. He was carried to his bed and seemed to regain consciousness soon after the first stroke, but he was soon overcome by another stroke and he died about two hours later.

He and his family were getting ready to attend the funeral of his brother, H. J. Adams, who had a stroke of paralysis fourteen months ago.

He began his church work in his boyhood days and continued until his death. He lived in Jackson Parish until nine years ago, then moved to Sikes where he has been a well known citizen since.

He leaves his wife and five children to mourn his death, also an aged father, N. Q. [sic N. P.] Adams who is living in his seventy-fourth year; four brothers and five sisters also survive. They are Chester Adams of Livingston, Texas; Ira Adams of Leighton, Ala.; Dr. U. S. Adams, Cherokee, Ala.; Watson Adams, Sikes; Mrs. Ruben Parker, Sikes; Mrs. Ethel Griffin, Farmerville; Mrs. Emma Griffin, Truxno; Mrs. Rosa Smith, Quitman; Miss Lizzie Adams of Sikes.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. D. Mize at the Harmony Grove Church after which his body was laid to rest in the Harmony Grove Cemetery.
