Passes Away at His Home on 69th Birthday
August Nelson, Jr, one of the oldest settlers here and for many years prominent as farmer and mining man, died Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock on his sixty-ninth birthday anniversary. While ailing for about the last two years, he was feeling better the last days and only Tuesday night complained of severe pains and died peacefuly after short suffering.
He was the son of one of the original settlers of Richfield, August Nelson, Sr, was born in Big Cottonwood and come with his parents to Richfield when a boy four years of age, living here ever since with the exception of the short period when Indian troubles drove the settlers away.
He was married to Hattie Thurber Nelson with whom he lived in the happiest union and who is surviving him, with the following children: Lester Nelson and E G [Edwin George] Nelson of Richfield; Eugene Nelson and Lloyd Nelson of Lunbreck, Canada; Ralph Nelson of Raymond, Washington; Adrian Nelson of Richfield and Mrs Kindon R Jensen of Richfield.
Surviving, also, are the following brothers and sisters: J H Nelson of Richfield, Leroy Nelson of Salt Lake City, Mrs Mina B Hansen of Provo, Mrs Rinda Dormitzer of Los Angeles, Mrs Nellie Christiansen, Mrs O C Thurber and Mrs George Callaway of Richfield.
Pending news about the arrival of the children far away, no arrangements have been made yet for funeral services.
