Doris M. Babinski was born August 31, 1918 in Grafton, North Dakota the daughter of Dominick and Gertrude Babinski. She was raised in the Minto, North Dakota area and graduated from Minto High School in 1934 at age 15 as their Valedictorian. In 1936 she enrolled in Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks. While making her home in Grand Forks she worked for Bye Motor Company in East Grand Forks and Forx Motor Sales in Grand Forks. In October of 1941, Doris, moved to Glendale, California and was employed at Andrew Jergens Company in Burbank. During World War II from 1944 until 1946 she served in the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman in the Navy Bureau of Ordinance in Washington, D.C. She returned to California and was employed with the City of Glendale in their Personnel Office and in 1947 went to work as Secretary of Sales at Harrower Pharmaceutical Lab. From 1950 until 1982 she worked for Blyth & Company Inc. Investment Banking(which later became, Blyth, Eastman, Pain Weber) in Los Angeles. Over the years she made many advancements and served as the Executive Secretary for the head of the Western Division until her retirement. After her retirement she worked two days a week for Dwight C. Baum, formerly of Paine Weber, as his personal executive secretary until 1989. She retired to Glendale and for the past fifteen years has resided in nursing homes in Glendale and Ojai. Doris was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church in Glendale and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leonard and George Babinski.
