Constance Grass graduated from high school in Page, Nebraska 1925. She received her Nebraska State Teaching Certificate in 1927. After a move to Oregon in the late 1930s she received an Oregon teaching degree and taught school in Oakland. She changed her profession to bookkeeping with a move to Bend in the mid 1950s.

Throughout her life she was a hard working woman. She was an excellent cook (lemon meringue pies were a specialty), loved to dance, worked cross word puzzles to relax and doted on her children and grandchildren.

The funeral and burial will be in Sutherlin, Ore. for Constance C Hartford, 67, 3540 Baker Lane.
Mrs Hartford, who came to Nevada in 1967, died Sunday in a local hospital.
She was born May 2, 1906, in Nebraska and lived in Bend, Ore. for many years.
She worked as a bookkeeper in the Erickson Super Market and Pilot Butte Inn in Bend.
Surviving are daughters Lavonne Shepherd, Reno, and Ann Breshears, Pt. Orchard, Wash., sons Cecil Hartford, Cyprus, Calif., Victor Hartford and David Hartford, both of Kingman, Ariz., brothers Harold Grass, Long Beach, Calif., Arthur Grass, Page, Neb., Arnold Grass, Tekamah, Neb., Elton Grass, Eugene, Ore. and Maurice Grass, San Francisco and sisters Shirley Steward, Vancouver, Wash., and Darlene Cunningham, Lincoln, Neb.
The Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary is handling arrangements.
