She traveled to the United States on the "Aquatainia" with her parents when she was six months old. She attended grammar school in Carmel Valley and she graduated from Monterey High School in 1937. Jean met George Boutonnet in Marina in 1937. They were married in 1938 and enjoyed 68 wonderful years until his passing in June 2006.
Jean and George worked together tirelessly to build their agricultural business. In the beginning Jean worked long hours providing hot meals for George's farm workers. She was devoted to her entire family, and especially enjoyed meeting her children and grandchildren for doughnuts at Winchell's on Sunday mornings, after church.
She loved to spend time in her garden and reading her devotions daily. She especially enjoyed her hobbies of needlepoint and sewing beautiful garments.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and gave her time and talents to the Visiting Nurses Association and Steinbeck House Valley Guild, and California Women for Agriculture.
She is survived by her son, Ed (Rosa) Boutonnet of Salinas; her daughter, Nancy (Bill) Moresco of Salinas; sister, Joyce (Jack)Siebman of Carmel Valley; five grandchildren, Troy (Susan) Boutonnet of Salinas, Kim (Edward) Perez of Corona, Todd (Erin) Brendlin of Bakersfield, Shari (Matt) Rust of Truckee and Michelle (Scott) Prewitt of Sacramento; 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and her devoted caregivers, Teresa, Martha, Cassie, Patsy and Catherine.
