Mrs. Jesse Allen, whose maiden name was Rebecca Morrow, was born near White Hall, Ill., Oct. 6, 1838, and died at her home in Jacksonville, Thursday morning, March 23, 1905, after an illness of some duration, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 17 days. Thus in the short period of five weeks both husband and wife have been laid to rest. The deceased's parents both died when she was a mere child and afterwards made her home with a half sister. At an early age she was converted and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church, where her membership remained until coming to this city when she united with the Congregational church. She was united in marriage to Jesse L Allen, Dec. 12, 1858. The union was blessed with three children, all of whom are living, and were in attendance at the funeral. They are, Mrs. Cyrus Curtis, of this city, Mrs. Mary Riley, of Jacksonville, and Mr. Frank D. Allen, of Girard. Besides the children and grandchildren, she leaves to mourn her loss, a brother and sister, Mr. William D. Morrow, of Hamberg, Ia., and Mrs. McIlravy, of near Clyde, Mo. the brother was in attendance at the funeral, but her sister was unable to leave home on account of ill health.

Short funeral services were held at her late residence in Jacksonville at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, after which the remains were brought to this city where services were held in the Congregational church, Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.S. Bugbey, pastor. Interment was made in the East cemetery.
Mrs. Allen, together with her husband, was for many years a resident of this city, where she will leave many sorrowing friends.
