"Letts, IA.
Thomas S. Curtis, son of Thomas M, Curtis, died Friday [June 17] at the age of 56 years, 10 months and 28 days. At the age of 12 he came with his parents to Letts and resided here all his life.
He was united.in marrige with Miss Hattle Jacobs [nee Harriet Mariah Jacobs] in 1878. To this union six children were born, five of whom with the mother, survive him. The children are Mrs. Mae Denham [nee Ida Mae Curtis], Mrs. Jessie McGuire, Fred [Fredrick Herman Curtis], Ernest [B. Curtis] and Emery [Emory David Curtis]. There are two grandchildren, Clifford Vincent and Mabel Denham. Three brothers and four sisters survive .him. They are John S., of Letts; Albert S[eth], of Bayard, .la.; Samuel, of Blue Mound, Kans.; Mrs. Mary Hutchinson [nee Mary Ann Curtis], of Augusta, Kans; Mrs. Ella Furnas [nee Ellen Curtis], Mrs. Ollie Parsons [nee Olive Tressa Curtis] and Mrs. Minnie Harrison [nee Minerva Curtis], of Letts. In 1889 Mr. Curtis was converted and united with the M. E. Church."
