Rev. Nolan Akers was born in Harris County, Texas, to Francis "Frank" and Clemmie Lometa Akers on 28 August 1937.

Rev. Akers was called into the ministry at the age of 18 in 1956. Following his older brother, Laurell Akers's footsteps, Nolan attended Southwestern Bible Institute (now Southwestern Assemblies of God University) in Waxahachie, Texas. While there, Nolan met his wife, and they married in 1962.

Over the 50 years of ministry together, Rev. Akers and wife spent the majority of their time in Houma, Louisiana, sharing the love of Jesus Christ and pioneering a church. During the ministry in Louisiana, they traveled to India and assisted in opening and supporting an orphanage. While in India, they had the honor of meeting Mother Theresa.

In 1989, Rev. Akers moved to his parents homestead near Tomball, Texas, and re-established the Oklahoma Community Assembly of God (in Montgomery County). A new facility, now named Grace Chapel A/G, was built in 1999 on F.M. 2978.

Rev. Akers worked for the Klein Funeral Home where he was able to minister to many. He also served as Chaplain for the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department.

Rev. Akers went to be with his Lord 15 December 2008.
