COLUMBIA — Funeral services for John A. Wilks, 77, of Trout, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Manifest Pentecostal church in Catahoula parish, with the Rev. W. R. Cripps and the Rev. Ernest Hooter officiating. He died late Monday afternoon in a Harrisonburg rest home after a long illness.

Mr. Wilks was a retired farmer and had also been employed by public agencies.

The body will lie in state at the home of Mrs. Eunice Taylor in Aimwell. Interment will be in the Heard cemetery under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Della Wilks, Trout, two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Sharpling, Minden, and Mrs. Taylor, of Aimwell; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Ewing, Pineville; five brothers, Perry Wilks, Horace Wilks and Hardy Wilks, all of Olla, Cleveland Wilks, Urania, and Taylor Wilks, Baton Rouge; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
