Son of Major Adams and Olive M. McRoy, he worked as a carpenter for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jane Adams, and survived by his second wife of 49 years, Frances Daniel Adams; daughters, Belinda Adams Carrillo and her husband Lorenzo and Mary Adams Pablo and her husband Jose; sons, Herbert Lee Adams, Jr., and his wife Tonia, Robert L. Adams and his wife Nicole, Bobby R. Adams and his fiancee, Tonya Griffin, and Michael G. Adams and his wife, Karla; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers; and a number of nieces and nephews. His funeral was held December 14, 2008.
