Mrs. Peggy Rose Adams Scherer, age 71, a former resident of Grimesland died Wednesday February 25, 2009 at Greenfield Place Nursing Home of Greenville, NC.
A graveside funeral will be held 2:00 pm today March 1, 2009 at the Edwards-Jones Cemetery in Grimesland officiated by Pastor Stanley Jones.
Mrs. Scherer was born in Pitt County on March 5, 1937 daughter of the late Major and Arlie McRoy Adams. She attended Pitt County Schools and married Henry George Scherer, Jr. on March 19, 1963 who preceded her in death on July 15, 2000. Mrs. Scherer was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons: Jesse Scherer of Grimesland and Billy Ray Scherer of Chocowinity; a sister: Annie Hardy of Grimesland; three brothers: Jackie Adams of Grimesland, Henry Adams of Greenville and Jimmy Ray Adams of Greenville and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorials be made to the Peggy Scherer memorial fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
