Rosa was the seventh child of ten children of John Franklin & Helen Elizabeth Fairchild Williams. Rosa married Samuel Elmore in 1903 when Samuel family stopped in Pilot Point for a couple of years when the Elmore family were on their way to Colorado to establish a ranch.

Samuel Elmore was the son of James & Martha Hammer Elmore who left TN in late 1890's with seven of their eight children and their worldly possessions in a covered wagon on their way to Colorado to establish a ranch. A married daughter stayed in Tennessee with her husband and children.

James and Martha Elmore stopped for a few years in Texas where their oldest child, Samuel Thomas Elmore, married Rosa Lodema Williams. Samuel and Rosa had their first two children in Texas.

James & Martha and family, and Samuel & Rosa and family purchased a herd of cattle in Denton, Texas and drove the cattle up the trail to Baca, Colorado where they arrived prior to July, 1907, when they homesteaded side by side, tracks of land for each of them.

The ranches were steadily improving until the area was blanketed by the devestating Dust Bowl storms of the 30's. The fertile grass lands were blown away and the barren devestation destroyed all remaining livestock and caused the ranch closings.
