Elnora "Ellie" Surguy Meier, 64
— Elnora "Ellie" Surguy Meier, 64, of Columbus and formerly of Franklin County, died Jan. 22, 2010.
Born Sept. 8, 1945 in Rushville, she was the daughter of Harvey and Lorena (McDermott) Crawley. She married Jack L. Surguy Jan. 12, 1974; he preceded her in death July 3, 1999. She then married Paul Meier Nov. 14, 2004; he survives.
Mrs. Meier lived most of her life in Franklin County. She had lived in Columbus since 2004 and spent six months a year near Sebring, Fla. She worked several years on the Franklin County EMS and at Fayette Memorial Hospital. She was affiliated with Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Jack Surguy Jr. of Tennessee, John Surguy of Rushville and Scott (Denise) Bishop of Brookville; daughter, Kim Caldwell of Rushville; sister, Reba (Jack) Patterson of Franklin County; six grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; step sons, Robert and Dwayne (Deborah) Meier, of Columbus; and step daughter, Krystal Meier of Columbus.
Besides her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Crawley Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Ellen Caudill and Jo Ann Crawley.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Bryce Fox and Pastor Troy Caudill officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
