EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH [BY REV. K. T. GRUBER]

There is also a small Evangelical Lutheran Congregation four miles south of Milford. They built a frame church in 1881. Pastor in charge, R. Gruber. Prominent members: A. Goldhammer, F. Krumirde, K. Kahle, etc.

John Kahle, an old and respected farmer living on the West Blue, was killed last Saturday in a peculiar manner. No one knows exactly how the accident happened, but the best report obtainable is that Mr. Kahle was mowing in a hay field when the cycle bar struck a stump with considerable force. The rebound of the machine threw Mr. Kahle to the ground on the left side of the mower, and in some way his head became caught in the wheel. The team ran away and badly mangled the old man's head. When found, life was extinct. Funeral services were held Monday.
