Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at Kuncl chapel for William Herman Kahle, 86, who died January 4 after suffering poor health for several months.

Surviving him are his six children, Helen Slepicka, Crete; Martha Panter, Wichita, Kansas; Jean Harrison, Long Beach, California; Richard of Crete; Robert of Azusa, California; and Gerald of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and eight grandchildren.

Born at Springfield, Illinois on December 25, 1873, he was the son of Herman and Anna Kahle. He came to Nebraska as a young boy and settled with his father and brother on the West Blue, northeast of Dorchester where he spent a number of years farming. After his marriage to Martha Plessman in 1912 he lived in Dorchester. Since 1914 he has resided in Crete where he was a member of the police force for a short time, and as a carpenter helped build a number of homes. However, he was better known as one of Crete's businessmen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, May 1936, two sons, William and Edward; five brothers and two sisters.

Rev. C.W. Long will officiate and burial will be in Crete Riverside Cemetery.
