Leona E. Furry, 95, formerly of Camp Hill and Williamsburg, died Sunday at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg.

She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Elinas and Cora (Sell) Brubaker. She married L. Carl Furry on Dec. 24, 1937, in Hollidaysburg, and he died Jan. 21, 2009, ending a marital union of 72 years.

Surviving are four daughters: Romayne Reeser of Grantham, Mary Holman and husband, Bill, and Martha Sproat and husband, John, all of Mechanicsburg, and Sharon White and husband, Bob, of Denver, Colo.; a son, Lewis C. Jr. and wife, Amy, of New Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Irvin of Hollidaysburg.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara M.; eight brothers; and three sisters.

Leona was a 1934 honors graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was primarily a homemaker who, along with her husband, shared in the daily operation of a successful family dairy farm near Yellow Springs, Catharine Township, for 30 years. After retirement, they enjoyed many years of traveling the country with their RV friends. She also enjoyed quilting.

While residing in Camp Hill, Leona recently attended Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren. She was a member of Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, where she was appointed a lifetime deaconess and had formerly served as a Sunday school teacher to children of all ages.

Friends will be received from noon until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, Pastor Allen J. Baker Jr. officiating. Private interment will follow at Carson Valley Cemetery, rural Duncansville.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to Williamsburg Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, Messiah Village Endowment Fund or Harrisburg Church of the Brethren Living Witness Fund.

Arrangements are by John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
