John Casbeer , pioneer settler of Lampasas County, arrived in this area between 1861-1865. He first settled in Lamar County in 1836 and moved to Burnet County before becoming a resident of Lampasas County.
John was born in Tennessee, the oldest child of Thomas Casbeer. John's first marriage was to Lucinda Graham (1807-1854) in Arkansas. Five children were born to them: Malvina Lyre, Thomas Alexander, Joseph Lamar, William Madison, and John Robert.
After the death of his first wife, John married Elizabeth Minerva Ervin.
