Obituary - Apostle's Sister Dies At Family Residence
LOGAN - Mrs. Lettie Ballard Squires, 53, wife of George W. Squires, proprietor of the Squires Cleaning & Dyeing company, died at the family home, 308 West First North street, Thursday midnight after an illness of heart trouble. She was a sister of Melvin J. Ballard, member of the L. D. S. twelve apostles.
Mrs. Squires was born here December 13, 1881, the daughter of Henry and Margaret McNeil Ballard. She had lived here all of her life. She was very active in L. D. S. church work.
Surviving are her husband and six sons and daughters: G. Walter Squires, Green River, Wyo.; Mrs. Alice Gardner, Odgen; Henry B., Melvin B. and Lettie Squires and Mrs. Myrthle Smith, Logan; eight brothers and sisters, Henry W. Ballard Sr., Benson; Melvin J. Ballard, Mrs. Myrtle Shurtliff and Mrs. Jennie Griffin, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Rebecca Cardon and Mrs. Lydia Griffin, Logan; Frank and Ernest Ballard, Cache Junction.
Funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Logan L. D. S. First ward chapel, with burial in the Logan cemetery under direction of the Lindquist & Sons' mortuary. Speakers at the funeral will be Bishop William Worley, Bishop David J. Sutton and Melvin J. Ballard.
