He was born in Bridgeport Township March 17, 1886 to John and Sarah Combs Mieure.
He was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was married 60 years ago to Bessie Nelson, and she survives, along with four daughters, Mrs. Viola Weigel of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Legg of Robinson, Mrs. Thelma Smith of Bridgeport and Mrs. Edna Ahlfield of Pawnee; six sons, Delbert of Bridgeport, Leslie of Anniston, Ala., George W. and Martin of Lawrenceville; Jerry of Robinson and Jack, Myton, Utah; 36 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, George Mieure of Lawrenceville, Carl Mieure of Sumner and Guy Mieure of Texas.
One son, Raymond, was among those killed on Iwo Jima During World War II.
Funeral services for Gus Mieure will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Cunningham-Nichols Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport with Rev. Robert Fyffe officiating, and burial will be in the Sumner cemetery.
