James Franklin Bennett, 92, of Waverly, died at 5:20 a.m. Sunday in Portsmouth General Hospital, where he had been a patient for a week.
Born in Pike County on March 2, 1861, he was a son of Charles and Sarah Galford Bennett. His wife Eliza died in 1944.
Surviving are five sons, C.B. Bennett, Waverly, with whom he made his home, Norman Bennett, Waverly, Everett, Dayton, Cecil, Columbus, George, Spokane, Washington; four daughters, Mrs. I.F. Vest, Bluefield, W.Va., Mrs. Clay Sanders, Piketon, Mrs. Chester Allen, Troy and Mrs. Henry Good, of Olive Green, O.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Louise Brushart, Mrs. Maggie Robinson, both of Piketon and Mrs. Cora Fields of Lucasville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Howe Co. Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Noel of Wakefield officiating.
Burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until time for services.
