Obituary - Verlan Schvaneveldt Dies Here Saturday After Suffering Stroke

Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Oneida stakehouse for Verlan Edward Schvaneveldt, 46, who died Saturday night in the hospital here after suffering a stroke just a week before.

He was born July 31, 1915, at Weston, a son of Erastus and Hannah Mae Phillips Schvaneveldt.

On Sept. 22, 1937, he married Sylva Taylor in the Logan LDS Temple.

He had engaged in farming in Weston until moving to Preston three years ago. Since then he had been a machinery salesman and was deputy assessor in Franklin County. He held the office of elder in Preston fourth ward.

Surviving are his widow, two sons and two daughters, Darrell, Gail, Clifford and Linda, all of Preston; brothers and sisters, Lee and Delbert, Weston; Les, Soda Springs; Mrs. Edna Atkinson, Clarkston; Mrs. Norma Godfrey, Logan; Mrs. Melva Schwartz, Terreton; Mrs. Venna Schwartz and Mrs. Edith Binggeli, Dayton; Mrs. Mardene Nielson, South Gate, Calif., and Mrs. Larae Baurley, Roy Utah.
