Joshua is the son of Joshua Sr and Mary Miller Walls. Joshua was born 7 months after his father's death. It is not known how Joshua Jr and Susan met. They started housekeeping in Darwin twp, Clark Co., IL. They had very few necessities of life. They struggeld along, reared a family. They purchased 80 acres of land just NE of Hatton. Here they lived, reared their family and finally came to the end of their days. They were not pompous fold, but of the type who are well known and well liked in the community where they lived. They had many friends. They were honest, hard working folk. They started with little of this world's goodsand never amassed much, but reared a family respected and trusted in the community. they were rich in friends and neighbors. Joshua never attained distinction away from his vicinity or circle, but he was active in politics, however, he never held political office. He was a school trustee for some time.
