Ben Beier
California resident,89
Ben Beier, 89, of Victorville, Calif., died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Victorville. He was born Aug. 19, 1912, in Saskatchewan, Canada. Ben was raised in Henderson where he worked on many farms in the area and attended and graduated from the Henderson schools. He married Lucie Friesen on April 27, 1941. He also served briefly in the military during World War II. Ben and Lucie established their home in South Gate, Calif. where they raised their family and had many friends. Ben was a member of the Immanual Mennonite Church in Downey, Calif., for 60 years. He served as church treasurer for many of those years. He worked for Chrysler Corporation as a production manager for 35 years as well as managing several department stores. Survivors; include his wife, Lucie of Victorville; daughter Beverly Beier of Roseburg, Ore., son Terry Beier of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Wylie, Kylie and Carrie, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mary Smith and Helen Friesen both of Henderson. Grave side services will be held on Friday at 5p.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery at Henderson, with the Rev. George Kaufaman officiating. Metz Mortuary of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.
