She worked as a cook at the Ideal Café in York for 11 ½ years and also at the Henderson Hospital for seven years until retirement. Mary was a talented quilter and over the years completed over 270 quilts for family and friends. In 2002 when her vision became impaired, she entered the Henderson Care Center.
Survived by sons: Don (Kay) Smith of Las Vegas, NV, and Norman Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; daughters: Thea Roemmich of Saronville, NE, Esther (Ed) Barker of Lakewood, Co, and Roberta (Gene) McGregor of York, NE. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 22 great great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard, three sisters, one brother, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
