Mrs. Mary Jane Johanson, 78, Rt. 3, died Friday at Porter Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong of Porter County, she was born at Woodville, Feb. 14, 1892, a daughter of Benjamin and Louise (Glissman) Hineline.
In 1908 she was married to Sirrene E. Spencer, who preceded her in death in 1955. In 1961 she was married to Carl E. Johanson, who survives.
Mrs. Johanson was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving besides her husband are seven sons, Raymond Spencer of Concord, Calif., Byron J. Spencer of Chicago, Ira W. Spencer of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Russell B. Spencer of Redwood City, Calif., Benjamin E. Spencer of Kewanee, Ill., Samuel E. Spencer of Plymouth, and Frederick E. Spencer of Gary.
Also two daughters, Mrs. Catherine J. Evans and Mrs. Georgia Rae Jacobson, both of Valparaiso; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ruth Evers, Merrillville; 30 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Two daughters, Mary Evaline Ellis and Ilda L. Dimos, six sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. L. E. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
