Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church for Samuel Sharlow, retired businessman.

Mr. Sharlow died at Massena General Hospital at 8 o'clock Saturday night. He had been a patient at the hospital two days but had been in declining health for the past several years and was seriously ill last summer.

Mr. Sharlow resided on Clary Street. The body was taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Sidney Crisp and a service was held there yesterday.

He was born September 20, 1871 in Brasher, a son of Hugh and Mary Boyea Sharlow. He came to Massena as a young man and had resided here since. In early life he married Miss Eliza Kirkey and she died December 22, 1927.

Mr. Sharlow was a stone mason and he was engaged in the real estate business. He built a number of private homes and business places in Massena. He constructed the large building on Center Street now occupied by Johns Chevrolet Agency, and for several years conducted a dance hall and roller skating rink there.

He retired from active business life several years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard and Eugene, Massena' three daughters, Mrs. Joseph McGuiness, Mrs. Sidney Crisp, and Mrs.. Edward Ryan; one brother, Leonard Sharlow; four sisters, Mrs. James McGray and Mrs. Bert Kirkey, both of Albany, Mrs. John Fregoe and Mrs. Charles Ashley, both of Massena and 13 grandchildren.
