She was the daughter of Joseph Astling and Anna Lawrence, both of which are buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, IL. She was a homemaker and had 8 sons and 3 daughters. She arrived in the U.S. at the Port of Philadelphia in July 1889.

Obituary: Sara Sabin, 97, formerly of Sycamore, died Friday in DeKalb County Nursing Home, DeKalb.

She was born in Leeds, England, Nov. 30, 1882, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Lawrence Astling.

She was married to Harry Sabin, Dec. 12, 1905, and had lived in Sycamore and Burlington area most of her life.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, and the Golden Years Club both of Sycamore.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Freeman of Dundee Township, Mrs. Carl (Marian) Miller of Rockford, and Mrs. James (Gladys) Schneider of Beloit, Wis.; seven sons, Bill of Alma, Tex., Harold of Largo, Fla., George and Robert, both of Sycamore, Raymond and Charles, both of Hampshire, and Fred of Burlington; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grand children, and one great-great-grand child.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on March 13, 1946; a son, Norman, in 1972; a grandson; six brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. today in the Van Natta Funeral Home, Sycamore. Burial was to be in Elmwood Cemetery, Sycamore. Memorials may be made to the DeKalb County Residence or the Sycamore Methodist Church.
