Mrs. Mary Etta Gargus, 79, of Oneonta route four died in a local hospital April 25 following a stroke. Member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, she was the widow of George Gargus who died in 1938. Surviving are four sons, Arthur, Dewey, and N. C. of Oneonta, Pliney of Homestead, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Goldie Whited of Oneonta, Mrs. Ada Tolbert of Shannon, Mrs. Hoyt Payne of Locust Fork; three brothers, John Tolbert of Oneonta route two, Minor and Wortha Tolbert of Oneonta route four; 41 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren. Services were held from Antioch Methodist Church April 27 with the Revs. Carl Payne, Herbert Moorer and Ivy Tolbert Officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Antioch Methodist Cemetery.
