"MRS. WILL ALLEN PASSED AWAY -
The body of Mrs. Will Allen, who died in Stigler, Oklahoma, last Sunday, Oct 9,
1921, was broght to this place on Tuesday and taken to the Kendall Cemetery
where the Rev. E. Hefner delivered the funeral address and where internment was
made. Before her marriage, Mrs. Allen was Miss Bethana Celia Kendall. She was
born Feb 4, 1855 in Johnson County, where she spent all but her last four years
of her life. She went to Stigler in 1917 which place is the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Shropshire. Mr. Allen died twenty-three years ago leaving her a
widow with eight children to rear. Many people remember the "Allen Place" by
the side of the old road one mile east of Hartman.

Mrs. Allen had been in failing health for some time but no one felt that the end
was so near until a few days ago when she became quite ill and although medical
aid and loving care were given her, she sank rapidly into unconsciousness and to
death. She was a member of the Christian church and a woman of strong character
and initiative ability. She faced her problems with a determination to win an
lived to see her eight children representative men and women.
In Mrs. Allen's home for many years lived her aunt Miss Mary Gillim who is now
eighty nine years old.

Mrs. Allen was a sister of the Hon. Thomas Kendall, who has on more than one
occasion represented Johnson County in the Legislature of Ark. She leaves
besides this aunt and brother, two other brothers, Gren and John Kendall of Ft.
Smith and one sister, Miss Della Kendall. Her children are Lee Allen of Spadra,
Seth Allen of Hartman, Gus Allen of Van Buren, Mrs. Annie Shropshire and Miss
Lillian Allen of Stiglerm Okla, Mrs. Claudie Eddington of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs.
Clara Perdue and Mrs. Alice Kraus of Clarksville, Ark. She also leaves twelve
grandchildren."
