Veteran of American Revoluntary War ,enlisted in Greenbrier County ,WVA as a Minuteman.

Served under Captain John Cook and Lieutenant William Gillilan D and was sent to Ellis Fort.

In 1777 he served under Captain Hamilton's Company.

In 1778 he was sent to Hampshire County ,WVA and joined Captain George Bell's Regiment in 1779.

Suggested edit: Some research gives his father as Thomas Hughes brother Hugh Hughes and his wife Susannah Carpenter.

Both Hugh and Susannah's wills mention a son named Jonathan.
