CAROL AMANDA GORDON BERTRAM's soul and spirit escaped her aging body Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in time to celebrate the birthday of Jesus whom she loved and worshiped throughout her life on Earth. She departed this life at her residence in Duncan, Okla., at the age of 85 years. Services to celebrate her life will be Wednesday in Bethel Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Jeff McLemore and the Rev. Ron Meador officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Sill National Cemetery. Services are under direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Carol was born July 6, 1923, in Fairmount, Mo., the daughter of Casey W. and Amanda Bassman Gordon. She and Paul D. Bertram were married at Kansas City, Mo., on July 12, 1942. She graduated from high school in Kansas City in 1941. She lived in Oklahoma City in The Village for 51 years.

The last four months, she and her husband, Paul, resided in Duncan with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of Hope Christian Center in Oklahoma City, loved to fish, enjoyed knitting, painting ceramics, china painting and many other types of crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Bertram; and three brothers, Marvin, Kenny and C.W. Gordon.

Survivors include her husband, Paul of the home in Duncan; two daughters, Janet Rucker and her husband Charles of Duncan, and Nancy McLemore and her husband Jeff of Waurika; a son, Ron Bertram of Hugoton, Kan.; a brother, Don Gordon of Kansas City; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
