Joseph Allen Guidry (Died February 28, 2006) U.S. Veteran Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2006 at a 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Joseph Allen "Dale" Guidry, age 74, who passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 2:44 a.m. at his residence in Carencro. Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Charles Mallet, officiated at the services. Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be How Great Thou Art, The Old Rugged Cross, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and Yahweh Is My Shepherd. Mr. Guidry was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He had been employed by Louis Gifts and Interiors, for over 40 years. He had also worked as a school bus driver for the Lafayette Parish School System. Mr. Guidry was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and was a member of Usher Society for over 10 years. A veteran of the military, Mr. Guidry had served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Theresa Latiolais Jenkins Guidry of Carencro; two sons, Richard Dale Guidry, and Todd Christopher Guidry and his wife, Theresa Cuccio Guidry, all of Carencro; one daughter, Kathleen Anne Hoss and her husband, Steven, of Carencro; two step daughters, Shelley Lynn Jenkins Guilbeau and her husband, Douglas, and Sharon Diane Jenkins Statum and her husband, Charles, all of Carencro; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Marie Guidry Melancon and her husband, Emery, of Leonville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Ruth Miller Guidry; parents, Louis Oderick Guidry and the former Etta Marie Guilbeau; stepson, Harry H. "Buddy" Jenkins; brother, Charles Larry Guidry; and one sister, Rena Marie Guidry Forsyth. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, by the St. Anne Society. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Richard Dale Guidry, Todd Christopher Guidry, Charles Statum, Douglas Guilbeau, Steve Hoss, Steve Hoss, Jr., Chris Hoss, Todd Anthony Guidry, Richard Dale Guidry, Jr., and Aaron Michael Guilbeau. Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, (337) 896-6366, is in charge of arrangements.
