Duane Abram Elder, age 84, peacefully returned home to His Heavenly Father on Saturday December 6, 2008 in Roosevelt, Utah, from illnesses associated with age.

Duane was born April 9, 1924 in Hatch, Garfield County, Utah, to Abram James and Edith Workman Elder.

Duane was a good father and grandfather and great grandfather. When he was 17 years of age he joined the Navy. He married M. Lillian Bingham on June 2, 1950 and had seven children then later divorced. He then married Flora Tanner Rodgers and gained 8 step children and they had 1 more child together giving him a total of 16 children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved them all and loved having all of them around. He was loved by all of them and he will be greatly missed by all.

Duane had his own business in Bountiful, Utah, for over 20 years as a TV repair man. He later moved to Roosevelt where he worked with his brothers in a family business. Then he went to work at Dino-land Enterprises teaching the handicapped how to work with wood. He also worked at the Roosevelt refinery for a time. He finished his life working by the side of his son, Rodney Elder and daughter, Brenda Bird at Rod's mini lube up until he was hospitalized Sept. 1 of this year.

Duane loved to do Temple work and had a great testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Flora, and daughter Natalie and his 8 step children; his first wife Lillian Bingham Houston and their children and spouses; Brenda (Elder) and Tom Bird; Linda (Elder)and Michael Barneck; Randy and Irene Elder; LaRae (Elder) and Daniel Roberts; Rodney and Trudy Elder; Diane (Elder) and Louis Simmons; and Raymond and Heidi Elder; his brothers and sisters; Ferron C. and Shirley Elder; Deloy and Mildred Elder; Merline Elder; Utahna (Elder) and Earl Young; and Bonnie Elder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abram James and Edith Workman Elder, his brothers Lawrence Elder and Leonard Elder, and his Sister Glenna Elder Bowden.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Roosevelt LDS West Stake Center. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Myton Cemetery under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary. Condolences @ www.hullingermortuary.com
