Randall Duane Elder, 60, passed away from complications of a stroke on June 1, 2014 in West Jordan, Utah while surrounded by his loving family.

Randy was born in Los Angeles, California on April 26, 1954 to Duane Abram Elder and Martha Lillian Bingham Elder Houston.

Randy married Irene Garn on November 22, 1997 in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple and they were later sealed in the same temple on April 11, 1998.

Randy grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Bountiful High School, Class of 1972.

He served an LDS mission to London, England, from 1973-1975 and remained an active member of the church throughout his life.

When he returned from his mission, his family had moved to Roosevelt, Utah. He worked in Roosevelt and later in Tremonton, Utah as a mechanical draftsman. He owned and operated several businesses throughout his career including a computer store in Provo, Utah.

His wife, Irene, and their two boys, Jared and Parker, were the loves of his life. They brought him joy and happiness and so many beautiful memories.

Randy had many talents he shared with all he knew. He gave much service to his family and friends and would use his many talents to help them in any way he could.

Randy had a love for life and all those that he came in contact with! Whenever anyone was in his presence they felt encircled by his warmth, happiness, and genuine love! His excitement and love for laughter will continue on through all those who loved and knew him! He is and always will be our reason to smile!!

He is survived by his wife, Irene Garn Elder; sons, Jared Randall, age 13, and Parker Keith, age 9; sisters, Brenda Lynn (Tom) Bird, Roosevelt; Linda (Michael) Barneck, Tabiona; LaRae (Dan) Roberts, Patterson, California; and Diane (Louis) Simmons, Tridell; and brothers, Rodney Dean (Trudy) Elder, Roosevelt; and Raymond Paul (Heidi) Elder, Provo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Lillian; nieces, Jacki Barneck, Justine Barneck, and Julie Christensen; nephew, Nicholas Garn; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles he loved very much.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Copperhills Twelfth Ward Chapel, 9227 South Wild Clover Lane (4900 West), West Jordan. Viewings will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville, and Saturday at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Garland Cemetery, 5600 West 13600 North, Garland.
