*Alternate date of birth Aug. 27, 1838.*
Borne on the roster as John B Roberts.
Served in Co. G, 11th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
Enlisted at the age of 23 on July 9, 1861.
Died at GH #11, Nashville, TN from smallpox.
He saw action at Horsehoe Bend, Cotton Hill, Bull Run No 2, South Mountain, Antietam, Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge where he was wounded.

*Discrepancies:
Inscription shows middle initial as "R," and rank as "Orderly Sergeant," but the VA's cemetery database lists him as "John B. Roberds, Corporal, US Army." Contributor (#47292383) reports his middle name was "Bayshore," and that he died of small pox.
Also, the inscription lists birth date as July 27, 1834, and death as Jan. 30, 1864 at age 25 yrs, 5 mos, 3 days. Assuming both the death date and age were correct, the math places John's birth date as Aug 27, 1838.
